“Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.” ― Rainbow Rowell, Eleanor & Park

Expressive Arts workshops and Sessions

In an expressive arts session a facilitator uses a multi disciplinary support approach that focuses on the human desire to shape our world—through music, theater, poetry, dance, or other artistic modality—as a tool to help initiate change.

Healing with Arts is passionate about providing creative empowerment to individuals seeking an innovative, arts based support program. Expressive arts sessions and workshops offer a space to decenter, to leave the everyday reality, and to dive into a creative process. Invest in your growth and potential. Play, make art, and harvest new perspective to step out of the muck. Join Healing with Arts for an adventurous workshop or individual sessions.

What can you expect from an expressive arts session with Melinda? During sessions, you will be invited to use multiple senses to explore your inner and outer world through the experience of art making. You will be encouraged to communicate your feelings about the process and the accomplishment of creating art, and together, with Melinda, you will use this creative process to harvest your strengths and identify how you approach challenges. The supportive work is based on the process of creating, not on the final result. It is not necessary to have a background or training in the arts to benefit from an expressive arts session. Throughout the process, you will learn to use the nonverbal language of creativity to communicate your inner feelings.
